Description:
`kdeplasma-addons-5.25.0-1` update broke the color picking feature, currently it does nothing after you click the color picker. It was working fine under `kdeplasma-addons-5.24.5-1`.

Additional info:
* package version: kdeplasma-addons-5.25.0-1
* doesn't seem to show any errors in logs, I can't find anything.

Steps to reproduce:
- Add color picker to your desktop
- Try to color pick, nothing gets added to the table nor the clipboard, it stays at #000000.

Downgrading to kdeplasma-addons-5.24.5-1 allows the feature to work again.

Xorg? Wayland? Have you restarted your session after upgrading?

xorg-server version 21.1.3-7
It's been like that for several days, I have cold restarted many times. I have updated everything to latest.

Are you using any scaling?
Comment by NotFood (notfood) - Wednesday, 22 June 2022, 07:08 GMT
No scaling, it's the default. I don't remember changing it ever and it doesn't look any scaled. My monitor is 1920x1080. I don't even have the option.

Are you using kwin or some other window manager?
Comment by NotFood (notfood) - Wednesday, 22 June 2022, 08:11 GMT
It's Kwin

Please run

qdbus --literal org.kde.KWin /ColorPicker org.kde.kwin.ColorPicker.pick

and try picking different colors, what do you get?

Nothing happens. I recorded the action. Also recorded it after downgrading, it shows the picker working fine.

Note: I fully updated my system as of minutes ago and then did a cold reboot.

-edit-
By the way, even after downgrading, the command you shared does nothing but output "[Argument: (u) 4278190080]".

I meant try running that command a few times and pick different colors (do not use the applet)

I did so in the first video. I click on the screen and it exits (and does nothing).

Well, no idea then. You may want to subscribe to the upstream report https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454974 where other users seem to have the same issue, but it doesn't seem to be a common problem.
