Recently, a developer implemented HEVC support in a set of patches, which is in the process of upstreaming. It would be a great idea to get the feature in Arch chromium too. Additional comments about closing: Needs to be implemented upstream first and would still need to be made available as part of a stable release (i.e. no backporting).
