Description: As it says on the tin. The filelist for 0.13-1 (released May 1st) includes python metadata, a binary and a licence for watchfiles, rather than watchgod (note: not watchdog - python-watchdog and python-watchgod are unrelated packages).
I am assuming that watchfiles and watchgod have some relation, as watchgod is about watching for changes in files.

Easily fixed by downgrading, at least.

watchfiles is a API-incompatible "continuation" of watchgod. It certainly is *not* a drop-in replacement.

Yeah, it's an interesting situation. Package has changed name [1] and also direction [2]. A whole new package might be warranted. Assigning to Package Maintainers who are best placed to work out a course of action.
