cloud-init 22.1-1 does not provide a /etc/hosts template for arch, therefore failing to correctly set /etc/hosts when using the arch cloud image which throws off some software.
The easy fix I've been doing now (by building my own image) was to copy the /etc/cloud/templates/hosts.debian.tmpl to /etc/cloud/templates/hosts.arch.tmpl (the debian template is roughly equal to what the arch install guide recommends for host entries).
It would be amazing to have such a template in the cloud-init package.

I'm not sure if this fits here or should rather be reported upstream to the cloud-init devs. If so please let me know and close this issue.

If possible please change the issue name, it somehow didn't take what I entered and I can't seem to edit it...

@Jakob (XDjackieXD): Upstream will take it.

If you have a moment, could you please take a look at this PR: https://github.com/canonical/cloud-init/pull/1371

A comment/review/test contribution would be much appreciated!

The fix should show up in the upstream 22.2 release (planned May 17th).

Note: You can always drop a message to the devs in IRC in #cloud-init on Libera or open bugs reports upstream at https://launchpad.net/cloud-init.

Thanks for testing @Jakob (XDjackieXD)!
