Description:

Start a virtualmachine with virtualbox using the -hardened kernel, and the machine locks up, with the need for a reboot.

Is this still relevant with the current versions of the linux-hardened kernel? I recall having a similar issue with an Intel Centerton Atom machine crashing reproducibly as soon as I'd start a KVM VM somewhere around kernel 5.16, but the problem seemingly got fixed before I got to bisecting it. Sadly it's a headless machine in a datacenter, so I wasn't able to get error messages from the machine.

Yes, still affected modern versions:

$ pacman -Q linux-hardened
linux-hardened 5.18.19.hardened1-2

$ pacman -Q virtualbox-host-dkms
virtualbox-host-dkms 6.1.36-1

$ pacman -Q virtualbox
virtualbox 6.1.36-1
