Reason for closing:  Not a bug
Comment by Andreas Radke (AndyRTR) - Wednesday, 06 June 2007, 11:32 GMT
when packages from testing move to current/extra afaik they are not shown again to the feed. beyond that the feed works well with claws-mail rss-plugin.

Yes. It appears to front page list does not show testing updates.
It focuses on the 'stable' updates, not the 'testing' ones.

The feed, however, does show testing packages.

Not sure if this bug is still valid or not.
Is this still a problem?

hi, i can see that this is still a problem, but andreas was rigth when packages from testing move to current/extra they are not shown again to the feed, how ever it shows the updates in the front page, the logical way here should be that the front page and the feed are synced, really?

once again sorry about my english

The only difference between the two lists are:

1) The front page "packages box" does not show testing packages, and shows the last 15 updates.
2) The packages feed shows the last 10 packages, and includes those from testing.

So that means...
If you have a package updated in testing on (lets say) sept 1st, it shows up in the packages feed.
If that package is moved from testing to current, but not version bumped, then it was still last updated on the 5th, so if other packages were updated later, it may not appear on the front page, or it could drop out of the packages feed.

A conscious decision was made at one point to not have testing packages show up on the front page. However, they do show up in the packages feed.

I would say this is 'working as designed' at this point. I suggest raising a request for a change on the mailing list, and linking this ticket.

I don't know how many people have visibility on this ticket right now.

hi again

i must tell you that you are wrong or i miss understand what you say here is the think:

this updates i get them the day 2007-09-05 for the updates from 2007-09-04 so the feed should be synced in that moment

this are the updates from the front page:

Extra editors vim-colorsamplerpack 5.0-1 140 different colorschemes (all as of March 13,2005) for vim 2007-09-04
Extra editors vim-vcscommand 19-1 vim cvs/svn integration plugin 2007-09-04
Extra emulators qemu 0.9.0-5 QEMU is a generic and open source processor emulator which achieves a good emulation speed by using dynamic translation. 2007-09-04
Current editors vim 7.1.94-1 a highly configurable, improved version of the vi text editor 2007-09-04
Current base vi 7.1.94-1 a highly configurable, improved version of the vi text editor (basic version) 2007-09-04
Current editors gvim 7.1.94-1 the vim text editor with advanced features enabled, such as a gui mode 2007-09-04
Extra lib libsexymm 0.1.9-1 C++ bindings for libsexy 2007-09-04
Testing office openoffice-base 2.3.0-0.16 OpenOffice.org - a free multiplatform and multilingual office suite 2007-09-04

and this are the updates from the feed:

libsexymm 0.1.9-1 C++ bindings for libsexy

as you can see there is a lot of diference from the frontpage (shows more updates) to the feed(only shows 1 update)

once again sorry about my english

Are you looking at your feedreader's output, or the actual feed itself?

And I was looking at the code for the site, so I am not wrong about how it is working internally.

Right now the front page updates box shows:
zile 2.2.41-1 editors
sbcl 1.0.9-1 devel
drscheme 371-1 devel
dovecot 1.0.3-2 network
libxrender 0.9.4-1 x11-libs
libxdamage 1.1.1-1 x11-libs
libxfontcache 1.0.4-1 x11-libs
perl-compress-zlib 2.006-1 lib
goffice 0.4.3-1 lib
libgsf-gnome 1.14.6-1 gnome
libgsf 1.14.6-1 lib
vim-colorsamplerpack 5.0-1 editors
vim-vcscommand 19-1 editors
qemu 0.9.0-5 emulators
vim 7.1.94-1 editors

The feed shows:
zile 2.2.41-1 A small, fast, and powerful Emacs clone
sbcl 1.0.9-1 Steel Bank Common Lisp
drscheme 371-1 PLT Scheme Environment
dovecot 1.0.3-2 An IMAP and POP3 server written with security primarily in mind
libxrender 0.9.4-1 X Rendering Extension client library
libxdamage 1.1.1-1 X11 damaged region extension library
libxfontcache 1.0.4-1 X11 font cache library
xproto 7.0.10-2 X11 core wire protocol and auxiliary headers
libx11 1.1.3-4 X11 client-side library
binutils 2.18-1 A set of programs to assemble and manipulate binary and object files

Now, if you correlate both of those to the http://www.archlinux.org/packages/search/?sort=-last_update page, which shows all updates, you see that the front page does not show Testing updates. While the package update feed does.
