darktable now uses Lua 5.4 (https://www.darktable.org/2021/12/darktable-3.8.0-released/), but the package still depends on lua53. The current package darktable 2:3.8.0-1 does not seem to support Lua at all, there are no Lua-specific options anywhere in the GUI and Lua scripts do not get executed on startup.

Thanks for the report. I missed that change in the packaging bump and it isn't a feature I use (although I probably should!). I just rebuilt with Lua 5.4, can you check version 2:3.8.0-2 out from [community-testing]? You should be able to do this with just something like this:

pacman -U https://archlinux.org/packages/community-testing/x86_64/darktable/download
```
