DetailsDescription: I am using a 2019 HP Envy x360 13-ar0900na with Manjaro now, but I have experienced this bug on all arch-based distros I've tried, so their custom kernel isn't at fault. I haven't been able to reproduce this on non-arch based distros.
I have been experiencing this bug for over a year (some older kernels might not have had the same bug, but all of the ones I have used did). So the problem is my touchpad sometimes just fails to work. I have found that for it to not work I have to use only the keyboard during the log-in process and if I do, there is a chance that it will not work. If the touchpad is touched during log-in, it will always work. I have tried several display managers (GDM, LightDM, SDDM) and several desktop enviroments (XFCE, Gnome, KDE) and the issue seems to be separate from all of them. I attached all the outputs that I recorded during a reddit thread (https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxquestions/comments/qe1qhr/arch_trackpad_not_working/hifg9iv/) when trying to fix the issue. Steps to reproduce: 1. Boot 2. Enter log-in info without touching the touchpad and press enter to log-in 3. See that the touchpad isn't working (Please be gentle, it's my first bug report 😅) |
