DetailsDescription:
Running ArchLinux as a Virtualbox guest with a Windows 10 host. I upgraded Virtualbox on Windows from 6.1.26 to 6.1.28 to mitigate the latest CVEs(https://support.oracle.com/rs?type=doc&id=2810981.1), and after that Virtualbox refused to start my Arch guest and threw the following error message in the logs: "Support driver version mismatch: DriverVersion=0x300000 ClientVersion=0x320000 rc=VERR_VERSION_MISMATCH" My Arch VM is running the latest Linux kernel and Virtualbox guest utils packages: linux 5.14.13.arch1-1 linux-api-headers 5.12.3-1 linux-firmware 20210919.d526e04-1 linux-headers 5.14.13.arch1-1 virtualbox-guest-iso 6.1.28-1 virtualbox-guest-utils 6.1.28-2 Steps to reproduce: 1. Install latest linux kernel and virtualbox-guest-utils packages on Arch 2. Upgrade Virtualbox to 6.1.28 on Windows host 3. Try to start ArchLinux VM on Virtualbox Workaround: Downgrade Virtualbox on Windows host to 6.1.26, after that my Arch VM boots again. Still, due to the above mentioned Virtualbox CVEs this is not a desirable workaround. |
