Description:

When booting, my screen (on a Dell XPS 9575 2-in-1), starts flashing pink blocks, and I can no longer see the boot process logs.

I believe this started happening after upgrading the kernel to 5.14 from 5.13.

Curiously, if I plug in an external monitor, the screen returns to normal. Even while flashing, I can wait an appropriate amount of time and login (i.e. the boot process finishes and the keyboard works, even if I can't see the login screen). After login, the screen begins working again.

I created a new bootable USB from the 2021.10.01 release download, and experienced the same issue. In this case, the external monitor trick did not work and I could not use the USB to debug my system.

The 2021.09.01 release download, however, worked without any issues.
