DetailsCould you append the option "-enable-lirc" to the VLCs package? I could save a lot of people recompiling VLC. Thanks you.

with all the breakage and problems in vlc I like to keep the dependencies small.

Right, but I have never seen any problems with vlc and when you use lirc, recompile vlc each time is a bit long. I don't tkink the lirc code is that problematic ...

I don't see a reason to exclude it unless it is currently broken, I voted this also.

As I discovered that we don't have to recompile every time. I had compiled with lirc support in version 0.8.6a. After to new releases 0.8.6b and 0.8.6c it still works. It semms that although new versions are out the lirc part is left unchanged. So you can use the lib builded in a previous recompile.
