I'd like to offer GNU fdisk as an alternative to util-linux fdisk.
Since the latter one is ATM in the big mud ball called util-linux, it needs to be removed from there and offered as a separate package.

Splitting up standard tools is a no-go. You could always rename your binary to gfdisk if the file conflict is your concern. This is the same thing that the BSDs are doing with all GNU tools which they have a BSD replacement for.

I must argue a bit. For example, "kill" is explicitly removed from the util-linux package,
probably in favor of the procps version...

GNU fdisk comes with a near-to-100% compatible version of util-linux fdisk AND a binary
named "gfdisk" that has GNU-specific extensions.
