Description:

There is a discussion because of the issues that come with gnome-shell having CAP_SYS_NICE: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/2284

One of those issues is the MPRIS player not being capable of displaying albumArts from a URL.

From this issue I see that neither Ubuntu or Debian have this prop, and looks like Fedora is dropping it for 35 because of other issues: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2021-d0b0be7c4e

I've disabled it on my Arch system and I don't see any difference on performance and the MPRIS albumArt is working for URLs. (But I'm using linux-zen)

Maybe Arch soulg drop it too for the 41 release?

Upstream bug has been closed. Is it still a problem?

Looks like upstream wont fix it for now at least... Yeah, let's close it...
