Package updates should re-run the hp-plugin tool in case it had been run with previous version. As an option the user should be warned to re-run it manually. Failing to do so a working HP scanner or fax to silently stop working. Additional info: * package version(s): n/a * hp-plugin has been run to instal the HP plugin. * link to upstream bug report, if any: n/a Steps to reproduce: 1. Install hplip 2. Run hp-plugin to download and install the plugin 3. Configure, for example, an HP scanner and test it (scanimage > test.bmp) 4. Upgrade hplip 5. Test the scanner again Expected result: A page is scanned and saved as a BMP image after the update (step #5) Actual results: No page is scanned. It occurs: Every time. |

That's not how Arch works. You are responsible for any additional steps when updating the system.
