I've tried:
using external usb cardreader
using internal laptop cardreader
having it automount using gnome-volume-manager
mounting it manually (g-v-m disabled)

Still results in a 250MB usable space.

The card works perfectly in Windows and my PDA.

Packages installed:
udev 111-1
gnome-volume-manager 2.17.0-2

I have attached images that show gnome's properties of the drive as well as dmeg and lsmod output.
   basic.png (22.4 KiB)
   volume.png (23.1 KiB)
   dmesg (17.2 KiB)
   lsmod (2.3 KiB)

Try checking the card with some filesystem check utility (there's one in dosfstools). I guess the reported size for the card is incorrect.

Yeah it works now. I had the card formatted with gparted and it works now. Thanks!
