DetailsMy system hangs whenever I play sound using an arts-based program such as Juk or Noatun when closing the program for the second time. It seems to be either a hardware or kernel bug. This has never happened with OSS-based programs such as XMMS or other ALSA programs such as Xine so I assume that arts is invoking a particular ALSA function which triggers the bug.
The kernel driver for my sound card is snd-ca0106. It is relatively new. I can't remember when I first saw this problem but it has been present in as many kernel versions as I can remember - I think it may have always existed (the driver was introduced soon after I bought the card). I am using the kernel26 package. Motherboard: MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR (VIA KT400/VT8235) CPU: AMD Athlon XP 1800 Sound card: Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit |
