Intel provides a patch to make Firefox less active when visiting a black/static page. You can find the patch here:

http://www.linuxpowertop.org/patches/firefox-2.0.patch

This should extend the battery life for laptop users when running Firefox.

Reason for closing:  Won't implement
Additional comments about closing:  This patch fixes some code that isn't even in 2.11 yet. There's a patch in bugzilla that wrecks out EThread, the patch from linuxpowertop.org is against that patch. I won't apply this for 2.10, I'll have it in 2.11 for the next gnome series instead.

this patch shouldn't create any issues with non-powertop-enabled kernels, so it shouldn't hurt to include it :-/
