I tried the new intel driver for X.
When I close the laptop lid, display turns off, but turns on automatically after a couple of seconds while the lid stays closed.
(could be unresolved issues with acpi and driver)

Also, some fonts rendered weirdly with the new driver. (Consolas font was sort of too large at size 9, and too small at 8).

please see http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/7106 and try tmy testing repo with xorg-server 1.3.0.0 and xf86-video-intel upstream patches from git.

I fixed the lid issue by playing around with acpid. So, doesn't sound like a driver issue.
I guess its some issue with dsdt that prevents lid open close from working without acpid (common too i suppose?).

The font issue still remains. But I guess I can live with that.

So, i guess you can close this bug.
