Description:

I have a Dell XPS 15 9570 that I just updated to linux kernel 5.12 and when I reboot, the built in screens remains black and doesn't respond to switching to the terminal with Alt-F2. I can get it out of this by attaching a monitor to the HDMI port and then I get a screen on that monitor (and the built it stops blinking, but still doesn't show anything). I'm using the nvidia driver.

I have the following in my mkinitcpio.conf:

MODULES=(i915 nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm)

and this is part of the options in systemd-boot:

"acpi_rev_override=1 nvidia-drm.modeset=1 pcie_port_pm=on acpi_osi="Windows 2009" mem_sleep_default"

I've attached the journal from a failing boot.

Current linux-lts version (5.10.35-1-lts) works perfectly, and so it does the non-LTS version until 5.11.16.arch1.

Something similar happened befor with the 5.0 kernel release (see: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/61964).

Last time was an i915 driver issue, I also wrote to the guys involved in this previous issue to see if it is a regression on their side.

Steps to reproduce:
- Boot last linux kernel version
