The page at https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/libxcrypt/ says license is GPL, but upstream at https://github.com/besser82/libxcrypt/blob/develop/LICENSING says it is LGPL. I don't know if there's some other reason for releasing this lib as GPL (in Arch), but given that it is the core of the login system, releasing it as GPL would make mandatory, for any development dealing with user passwords, to be released as GPL which doesn't seem quite sensible... |
