The message telling normal users that the client is outdated is not really helpful.
Would it be possible to patch 'https://github.com/owncloud/client/blob/master/src/gui/updater/updater.cpp'?

Please try to convince upstream to add an option to disable it. I'm not going to maintain a downstream, unofficial patch.
