Gnome-screensaver crashes when you try and run it:

$ gnome-screensaver
process 6563: arguments to dbus_connection_send_with_reply_and_block() were incorrect, assertion "connection != NULL" failed in file dbus-connection.c line 3168.
This is normally a bug in some application using the D-Bus library.

Start dbus from DAEMONS in rc.conf to get your problem solved. Gnome-screensaver seems to use the dbus system bus for something and doesn't check correctly if it's available.
