Description:

The system randomly crashes to black screen, producing a core dump.
I haven't changed the screen configuration before the crash, so I'm wondering why "GPUAddScreen" is being called.

Mar 26 08:29:40 hugenduebel systemd-coredump[574]: Process 439 (Xorg) of user 0 dumped core.

Please provide more info about your hardware, desktop software, kernel and graphic card driver. Add Xorg log and journal. Maybe rebuild affected packages adding debug symbols and try to get a backtrace.

Do you use some additional compositor?

I guess it could be mesa update related or kernel drm. Maybe try -lts kernel or downgrade mesa to narrow it down further.

No additional compositor - just xfwm4.

There was another kernel update to 5.11.10-arch1-1 today. It did not fix the issue.
Comment by Bastian Voigt (batzee) - Monday, 29 March 2021, 07:31 GMT
downgrading package mesa (21.0.1-1 => 20.3.4-3)

Let's see if that helps
Comment by Bastian Voigt (batzee) - Monday, 29 March 2021, 08:54 GMT
OK, so the mesa upgrade also did not fix the issue. Just had the same crash again twice.
I'm going to try the longterm kernel next

The LTS Kernel also didnt Change anything. Its getting worse and worse. Can it bei a Hardware failure?

My Laptop's mainboard was replaced today, and now the crashes seem to be gone. I guess this bug can be closed. Thanks for your help!
