DetailsI created a test user and didn't add it to the wheel group but I was still able to su -
Fix: user:group should be root:wheel permissions for /bin/su should be -r-sr-x--- Make sure to set group before changing permissions or else it won't work. |

This is totally wrong. If you only want wheel users to be able to su, check the /etc/pam.d/su file for more information.

No one forces anyone to use the wheel group for su and/or sudo usage, so keep that in mind. The system is quite configurable.
