DetailsDescription:
https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/issues/5099 - reported this to Signal, they say it's an issue in the Arch package. For me, the microphone works for voice messages. I can record and replay them successfully. But during a video call, the microphone doesn't work and in settings, there are no selectable devices for microphone. Access to the mic is granted in settings, it is not muted, or at low volume. It works fine in other applications, like Zoom, Google Meet, browsers, etc. I'm on Arch Linux and I'm not using PulseAudio, only Alsa. PS. Apparently the category "Packages: Community" does not exist, so I picked core. Additional info: * package version(s) 1.40.1-1 * config and/or log files etc. "MediaDevice: available devices changed (from->to) [object Undefined] {\"availableMicrophones\":[],\"availableSpeakers\":[],\"availableCameras\":[{\"deviceId\":\"foo\",\"kind\":\"videoinput\",\"label\":\"Integrated Camera (123:456)\",\"groupId\":\"bar\"}],\"selectedCamera\":\"foo\"}" * link to upstream bug report, if any https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/issues/5099 Steps to reproduce: * Start a video call * The mic doesn't work and is not detected |

You could try setting up a ubuntu machine without pulseaudio and try to reproduce the bug with the official signal-desktop package, if it's working there that would suggest that it's actually a problem with the Arch build.
