This report targets Skylake, Kabylake, Kabylake-refresh, Amberlake and some other platforms where audio is of SPT (PCH) type. HDA (with DSP capabilities) plus DMIC configuration is supported on these with the snd_soc_skl driver. "After some investigation it looks like running SOF on SKL or KBL wont be possible at this time due to an immutable audio DSP signing key (which is also used by all OSes for audio authentication) on the platform.", which leaves the aforementioned driver as the only option. In order to use the snd_soc_skl driver with this configuration (I've seen several laptops that ship it from major oems as Acer, HP, ...), CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_SKYLAKE_HDAUDIO_CODEC is needed.
