After upgrading from alsa-lib 1.2.3-2 to 1.2.4-3, there's no sound via HDMI anymore on a Thinkpad T14 AMD.

The devices are shown via Pulseaudio, but no sound is actually played. Also see  FS#68313  with another issue introduced by the same change.

This was fixed upstream in alsa-ucm-conf:
https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-lib/issues/95
https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf/commit/33be660e4b1e75c19d5332556c3d2636dd3344bf

I can confirm applying that patch fixes the issue on my system. Unfortunately, the fix happened back in November, and there's still no new bugfix release available.

@The-Compiler: Thanks for the report and sorry for the long delay.

Is this still an issue with 1.2.5-1 (currently in [testing])?

This 1.2.5-1 update removed the 2 channel HDMI device on my system with a Radeon VII and pipewire. I tried to go back to pulseaudio, but it didn't help to get the sound working again. I had to downgrade to 1.2.4-3.

@raneon: I think this might actually be related to  FS#71077 .
