Hello!
Description: I have a Ledger Nano X and I am trying to create a wallet from the hardware wallet but I don't see my device in the drop down list in the monero GUI. I looked for information online and found this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/monerosupport/comments/k2srav/sw_cla_not_supported_error_with_ledger_nano_x/ where someone mentioned that the monero-gui binary from arch repository might not have been compiled with HW wallet support. I tried with the binary from getmonero.org (monero-gui-v0.17.1.9) and it works fine. How can I check that the package monero-gui from the communito repo is indeed compiled with the HW wallet support or not? Additional info: * package version(s): 0.17.1.9-1 Steps to reproduce: 1) connect ledger nano X, open monero app on device 2) install monero-gui 0.17.1.9-1 from arch communito repo + start monero-gui 3) click Advanced mode 4) click Create a new wallet from hardware 5) give wallet name, change wallet location if desired 6) tick "Create a new wallet from Device" 7) click on drop down menu "Choose your hardware device" Expected result: ledger nano X can be selected Actual result: no entry |

with the current package in the repo, I can't use my Ledger device for Monero so I am quite stuck with this crypto currency since I don't want to leave some coins on exchanges.
If I start using the monero app from getmonero.org, will it be easy to transfer my wallet/coins on arch's monero-gui app once it is fixed or should I just wait the package from arch repo to support hardware wallet?
Thanks.
the current version of the package in the repository is 0.17.2.2-1 and it is still not possible to use the application with a hardware wallet (ledger).
I am surprised that I am the only one affected by this so maybe the application in the repository doesn't have the problem and my system (ledger or my arch) is the culprit?
Any idea on how to figure this out?
The app on getmonero.org works and see my ledger but I would want to have the updates managed by Arch and not have to manually update the application from the official website.
Basically, without my hardware wallet recognized by monero-gui, the application is unusable for me.
Thanks.
I can confirm this issue.
This is the issue I created on the Monero GitHub: https://github.com/monero-project/monero-gui/issues/3568
Basically, it works when I execute the GUI as root.
The dropdown is empty for normal users.
Best regards,
Josef
Could it be that a simple user needs to be added to a specific group to see the ledger device with monero-gui?
It works with ledger live though and I run it as a simple user.
But the issue doesn't just affect the "Choose your hardware device" drop-down menu. I've found other drop-downs that don't do anything when clicked:
* Settings->Log->Log Level
* Transactions->Date from
* Transactions->Date to
This problem does not occur on my system with the official Linux release from getmonero.org/downloads/, or when running this AUR package as root. In both cases the drop-downs work as expected.
The following issues also get fixed by using the official Linux release instead, or running this AUR package as root:
* There is a lot of empty vertical space around both sliders in the Settings->Interface menu (see attachment).
* The tooltip boxes aren't big enough for the tooltip text (see attachment).
