LibreOffice 7.0.4.2 Writer and Auto Correct doesn't:
1. replace words anymore;
2. doesn't correct words starting with two uppercase letter;
3. it doesn't Replace the letter after a period with an uppercase letter.

Steps to reproduce:
1. install libreoffice-still and libreoffice-still-it and try to write "perchè" it doesn't correct it with "perché".
2. Write "COmprare" and it doesn't replace with "Comprare".
3. Write "Essere o non essere. questo è il problema" and it doesn't replace "questo" with "Questo".

I removed all the Libreoffice configuration deleting the configuration directory and running again LibreOffice. Same result. If I use the same version on Mac OS it doesn't happen, so this should be an Archlinux issue in some way? I have all the packages updated to the last version.

This task depends upon

This is indeed a bug in the linux kernel. It cropped up when I updated my kernel (to 5.10.9) on 13 February 2021, and *not* when I last upgraded LibreOffice (to fresh-7.1.0-1) on 3 February 2021.

It's not possible that this is a kernel issue. Kernel let work devices (network cards, usb, hdd and so on) not GUI library in a text editor.
I rebooted with a 5.4.98 kernel-lts I didn't updated and the bug it's still there because, of course, it's not a kernel related issue.

Does this happen with both libreoffice fresh and still?

I am on fresh and it's happening to me too. It's also affecting other things like Impress's font autosizing to fit inside textboxes.

I can confirm this behavior. When i type "..." doesn't convert to the character after a space; only when i hit tab or enter. This happens with all others setups. This is an Arch-wide-distro-related bug: is observed in Manjaro and Endeavour.
I can apport that in the 5.x versions of Libreoffice this bug is not present. Is in 6.x and above this weird behaviour is presented.

Also, tested in Ubuntu and not, they don't have this issue. I asked in Libreoffice forums and that bug is not present. It's a problem in Arch.

In 6.x it was not present. I use LibreOffice Writer every day and I noted "..." + space is not transformed in the single "..." character. I noted this just yesterday, but with 7.0.3 was not happening and with 6.x never happened. Is not possible to move the libreoffice-still to last stable version 6.x? I think it could be the best solution and move back to libreoffice-fresh to 7.0.3.

Well, I just installed Manjaro Linux, based on ArchLinux, and LibreOffice Still doesn't have this bug, so I suppose this is just an ArchLinux related bug.

I've noticed the same bug today because regular hyphens (a - b) aren't replaced automatically with long dashes (a – b) anymore if "b" is followed by a space (tab or enter works fine).

[https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69848 mentions the same issue.]

Interesting: If some parts of your text are in "Default Paragraph Style" and you select "Tools > AutoCorrect > Apply" maunally, these parts will be autocorrected and changed to another paragraph style (should be normal I think) while the other ones won't be corrected and stay completely the same.

Why the "Status" is "Unconfirmed"? Lots of ArchLinux users had this issue.
And still "Assigned To" "No-one". With the new release of LibreOffice 7.0.5 ArchLinux package, the bug is still there. Cannot be reverted to LibreOffice 6 if it's not possible to fix in 7.0.x branch? On ManjaroLinux, LibreOffice 7.0.x works, no issue.

I don't know what's happened, what update was done, but today 13th March I updated ArchLinux and the bug was gone away. Yeah!

Same for me, after updating my system everything's alright with -still 7.0.5 :)
