Could you give some more information, I have not been able to reproduce on machines using xorg + plasma or i3wm with intel or nvidia gpu
Comment by Stephen (cclin) - Wednesday, 03 February 2021, 07:39 GMT
this occur in both i3wm and plasma in my intel-10900k and nvidia-2080ti (460.39-1) PC
the previous version vivaldi-3.5.2115.87-2-x86_64 can still run right now.
kernel is 5.10.11.zen2-1

i saw /bin/vivaldi is a link to /opt/vivaldi/vivaldi
running the vivaldi in /opt/vivaldi/ will raise the exception but vivaldi-bin won't
what's the diffirent between vivaldi and vivaldi-bin in /opt/vivaldi/ ?
should /bin/vivaldi link to /opt/vivaldi/vivaldi-bin ?
Comment by Ike Devolder (BlackEagle) - Wednesday, 03 February 2021, 08:23 GMT
Why does your `cat` segfault?

do you have something in `~/.local/lib/vivaldi` or `/var/opt/vivaldi`?

and no, you should use the vivaldi executable because it prepares stuff for you.

Comment by Stephen (cclin) - Wednesday, 03 February 2021, 08:34 GMT
I don't know why cat segfault here but cat in /usr/bin works without any exception in CLI.
it's true that there are `WidevineCdm` and `media-codecs-87.0.4280.66` in `~/.local/lib/vivaldi`. Should I remove them and then retry vivaldi-stable?
Comment by Ike Devolder (BlackEagle) - Wednesday, 03 February 2021, 08:39 GMT
Could you indeed remove `~/.local/lib/vivaldi` and try again (try with a close and re-open as well)

if the same issue persistes, could you remove `~/.local/lib/vivaldi` again and install `vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs`?
Comment by Stephen (cclin) - Wednesday, 03 February 2021, 09:00 GMT
Thank you for your support!
After remove `~/.local/lib/vivaldi` vivaldi works for me.
it generated media-codecs-87.0.4280.66 but no WidevineCdm.
WidevineCdm was deleted so I could not find whether it cause this segfault.
Thank you again.
Comment by Ike Devolder (BlackEagle) - Wednesday, 03 February 2021, 10:03 GMT
yeah, WidevineCdm will not return, that was a workaround that is no longer needed
