Apparently the file /usr/etc/xdg/xfce4/desktop/xfce-registered-categories.xml.it needs to be renamed to /usr/etc/xdg/xfce4/desktop/xfce-registered-categories.xml.ita to prevent segfaults of xfdesktop |

It doesn't need to be renamed. If it is renamed it isn't found, so it doesn't generate the error. The file contents were duplicated, so at the second <xml> tag (line 335) the parser fails and crashes xfdesktop. Just remove lines 335-668 and you solve the problem without removing the menu localization.
