Details

Moving to kernel26 2.6.20.6-4 -> 2.6.20.7-1 stoped every acpi related function (temperatures, fan monitoring, battery information) .

Had to move from 2.6.20.7-1 -> 2.6.20.6-4 , to resolve the problem.

It is a Acer 5612 Laptop
CPU Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz

ACPI isn't broken, it's modular since 2.6.20.7. Check http://www.archlinux.org/news/312/ for details.
