My Thinkpad X240 with up-to-date archlinux has recently started to not wake up from suspend every couple of times and approximately every half hour my external screen gets blank with no apparent reason. In the log I can sometimes see a Gnome shell crash, I guess this is the reason for one or both of my problems? Attached is a system log of a session that includes this gnome shell crash.

Is this a Gnome shell problem or is something else in my system broken that then leads to the Gnome Shell crash?

Other than the crash, there's multiple time the line "kernel: ACPI: \: failed to evaluate _DSM (0x1001)" which I found during an internet search related to system hangs as well.

I cannot reproduce the issue. Is it still valid for you?

If yes, could be an hardware-related issue since your "kernel: ACPI: \: failed to evaluate _DSM (0x1001)" error?

Sorry for the late answer. The gnome-shell crashes are fortunately gone now - so this ticket may be closed. The ACPI warnings remain in the log, so I guess they had nothing to do with the crashes.
