Description:

Inability to reliably delete files / directory if share definition includes a 'force user =' or 'force group ='
An empty directory or file at the top of the share may delete properly, others will not.

Same problem on arm as well as x86_64

Problem goes away if directory mode is forced to 0777 - ugly!

Reverting from 4.13.3 back to samba-4.12.6 and smbclient-4.12.6 works around the issue.
