Description:
If your desktop environment shows an update notifier when updates are available, you will have to run pkcon refresh or something after sudo pacman -Syu in order to hide it.

It will be very convenient if the packagekit package installs a pacman post-transaction hook to refresh packagekit cache. For what it's worth, I've been using https://gist.github.com/zzag/94d3c9c522332e0186d01b4636a391fe and it seems to work fine.
