Can you add the following options to mplayer ./configure?
--enable-tv --enable-tv-v4l --enable-tv-v4l2

They are needed to watch and record TV with mplayer/mencoder.

Yes of course they're needed, but I can't include the, it breaks it for people that don't have a tvcarc. You'll have to build it locally.

mplayer is one of those rare pkgs that you really should build manually because so many things that are detected and used on the configure script.
