Description:
iio-sensor-proxy is required for auto brightness and rotation on devices that have these sensors, eg notebooks or tablets.
When iio-sensor-proxy is installed, these features automagically work.

Additional info:
iio-sensor-proxy is used since at least Gnome version 3.17.2

I believe the code that actually uses the dbus interface provided by iio-sensor-proxy is in mutter: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/blob/44.2/src/backends/meta-orientation-manager.c?ref_type=tags
I personally also suggest that this package should be added to the gnome group.
