DetailsThere are some packages that I would like to contribute to arch that require tcl to be compiled with threads enabled (like aolserver).
Enabling threads in the tcl package does not add instability like threads in other scripting languages. The one side effect of a threads-enabled package is a very slight decrease in performance. This should be an accpetable tradeoff for the gain that having a thread-ready tcl package can provide. (Just for comparison, debian ships its tcl 8.4 packages with threads enabled, so others are finding it safe as well) |
