Summary and Info:

My box lost its package indexes and thus all installed packages. I had to recover them following the wiki, which worked. pacman -Sg base doesn't show any members of the base group though. It in fact returns return code 1:

$ pacman -Sg base; echo $?
1

There is no base group in Arch Linux
