Description:
I was trying out the systemd hook of mkinitcpio, specifically the overlay functionality as requested in this bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/55648 Systemd has significant issues booting the system with the systemd.volatile=overlay kernel commandline option, therefore I opened an issue at the systemd github. I was informed that the initrd used by ArchLinux does not meet the systemd minimal requirements; - /etc/os-release is missing - for volatile to work, systemd-volatile-root.service must be available. - systemd should be installed under /usr (given the contents of the initramfs, this is the case) Additional info: * package version(s) systemd 245 (245.6-8-arch) mkinitcpio 28 * link to upstream bug report, if any https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/16580 Steps to reproduce: systemd.volalite=overlay |
