bsd-games 3.0 package games can not save high scores because the score file ownership is set to group games. The score files are in /var/lib/bsdgames and should be owned and writable by the users group. This ownership and permissions are set by package make install, but are overridden in PKGBUILD lines 39 and 40.

bsd-games 2.17 used to set score file group to games and made executables sgid games, while 3.0 leaves executables unprivileged and instead makes high scores directly writable by users.
