Since 2.0.0-rc2, upstream support for VA-API decoding was enabled via build flag.
In case no hw accellerator is found, it fallbacks to software decoding, so enabling this flag shouldn't have any drawback.

This task depends upon

Is there any reason for not including this build option? I can see that it wasn't included in the latest 2.2.0-1, probably this bug report went unnoticed.

@jacobopantoja: Thanks for the bump!

No particular reason but me forgetting about it.

Please check whether this works as expected for you with freerdp 2:2.2.0-2

@dvzrv: Yes, it works as far as I can tell, I can see the Intel Video decoder working in intel_gpu_top when remoting (at least when remoting videos)

So, we can close it now. Thank you very much

Certain hardware drivers limit the maximum resolution for hardware decoding with vaapi (e.g. can't use virtual resolutions larger than a certain amount). See https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/issues/5351)

It seems to be related to hardware or driver limitation.

As this affects my hardware, I had to downgrade to freerdp-2:2.2.0-1.

I believe this will affect others.

NVIDIA Proprietary driver doesn't support VA-API through libva-vdpau-driver. freerdp crashes with this option enabled for NVIDIA Proprietary driver. Segment Fault. May until freerdp doesn't supports runtime configuration for LIBVA, it could be a safe bet to disable again this feature. Thoughts?

As mentioned in https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/69797 I will remove the feature again, as it is unstable and breaks people's setups.
