Details

As per https://github.com/dawbarton/pdf2svg/issues/7 and the configure file https://github.com/dawbarton/pdf2svg/blob/master/configure.ac the dependency on gtk2 is not required. With this removed the package builds (in a clean chroot) and runs without needing gtk2 installed.

Possibly, to match the configure.ac checks, it should be depends=('poppler-glib' 'cairo'). The package also builds and runs with these dependencies.

Oh, and https://github.com/db9052/pdf2svg now redirects to https://github.com/dawbarton/pdf2svg -- he's changed his username. The sources can be updated to

source=($pkgname-$pkgver.tar.gz::https://github.com/dawbarton/$pkgname/archive/v$pkgver.tar.gz)

to avoid relying on GitHub's redirect.
