DetailsTo reproduce:
Start gnome-terminal and make it use transparent background(I am not using any composite manager). Then partially cover it with an other application. Now change to an other desktop and back again. Result: Teminal is now black. You can now move the other application over the terminal to "whipe" i clean again. |

It's a bug in vte 0.16.0, a fix in SVN is available for it, together with many more fixes. I guess 0.16.1 will get released quite soon.
