I've been reading up a bit on 'enchant' and 'myspell', and I'm not sure where dictionaries should be installed under Archlinux. Hunspell/myspell seems to expect dictionaries to be located at /usr/share/myspell.

Would it be possible to compile enchant with --with-myspell-dir=/usr/share/myspell? To do this, I guess, hunspell would have to be moved to current and added as a dependency of enchant.

When this is done, myspell dictionaries could be added to the AUR, and perhaps openoffice-devel could be compiled to use dictionaries at /usr/share/myspell, as could other applications.

hmmm.... --with-myspell-dir=/usr/share/myspell doesn't seem to have any effect. Perhaps this is just a stupid feature request, and myspell dictionaries could simply be installed to /usr/share/enchant/myspell...?

enchant picks up hunspell dictionaries from /usr/share/myspell.

Next step we have to take is providing hunspell dictionaries. These dictionaries should contain some postinstall script to make them work with OpenOffice.org if installed. Having these myspell dictionaries would remove the need for any openoffice-spell-* package.

Could someone take care of this issue?

I installed en_GB and de_DE dictionaries in /usr/share/myspell and /usr/share/myspell/dicts (the latter seems to be the enchant default path for myspell) but enchant doesn't take any of these dictionaries. The aspell dictionaries instead work fine.

What's the status of this issue?

It should be easy to fix (just a symlink), and would alow to easy install new diccionaries which could be used by Enchant and also by other apps.
