ibus should be added as a dependency, otherwise diacritics composition (Unicode equivalence) is not working properly on overview search, see https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/2891

Technically you just need an IME here. Our repos have ibus, scim, fcitx, fcitx5, gcin (and perhaps others I don't know) and you need to install one of them.

ibus should not be added as a hard dependency or users of other IMEs will not be able to switch (which was the exact reason why gnome-shell depends on libibus only).
