Normally game dependencies are provided via steam and/or steam-runtime. Did you report this upstream [1] or [2]?
Fixing if there, will resolve issue for all Linux distributions.

Wine is a standalone application, why do we need to depend on steam for that?

Oops, something got short circuited here - brain read this as "proton" instead :-)

Fwiw, it does make sense to have (opt)dependency on all gst plugins as advertised by wine itself. I think the IFilterMapper2_RegisterFilter() calls [1] might be a good guide.
