Description:

Export odt document with DejaVu, Liberation or other fonts, to pdf: text on the pdf is visible.
Export odt document with Cantarell fonts to pdf: any text written in Cantarell is NOT visible


Additional info:

Steps to reproduce:

Write something, change the text font to Cantarell, export the document to PDF. Open the resulting PDF.

Seems it actually might be some kind of problem with the Cantarell fonts. I have found a workaround:

rm /usr/share/fonts/cantarell/Cantarell-VF.otf
fc-cache

LibreOffice exports Cantarell fonts to PDF normal.

So the problem is in the Cantarell-VF.otf somehow.

It's an OpenType 1.8 variable font. LibreOffice needs to ignore it and use the accompanying simple fonts instead if it has problems with variable fonts.

same problem for me :

Since i remove font-bh-ttf (i thought they were useless), then export odt document with Cantarell fonts to pdf : bold text written in Cantarell is NOT visible

I reinstall font-bh-ttf and everything works fine.

I don't understand.
