Any reason these are relative symlinks? are they need to be accessed from outside the rootfs/chroot?

Except /etc/{os-release,mtab} that must be relative, in my system I don't see any other relative symlinks in /etc that are pointing to targets outside of /etc.

What about removing them completely from /etc?  FS#45462  https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/45462?project=1&string=iptables
