Details

(At first i have to say that i use Arch 0.8 but the pulldown for "Reported Version" don't shows it.)

I've had the problem that with fontconfig and freetype2 from current my favorit DejaVu Fonts looks thinner in kde than in gtk apps.

After making my own package freetype-2.3.2 as an copy from the abs files the fonts been still thinner as before but in the gtk apps too. So there is the same behaviour for kde and gtk apps which is okay from my side.

Extract from the Changelog:

CHANGES BETWEEN 2.3.2 and 2.3.1

   I. IMPORTANT BUG FIXES

     - FreeType  returned incorrect  kerning information  from TrueType
fonts when the bytecode  interpreter was enabled.  This happened
due to a typo introduced in version 2.3.0.

I must correct myself because i notice that after the step to this newer versions of fontconfig and freetype2 kde think that it has to use the light versions of the fonts. After correcting this in the control centrum the fonts been perfect.

I hope someone other will have the same results because fontconfig/freetype2 has sometimes a touch of
voodoo. But if other can see the same i suggest more than before to upgrade the freetype2 package.
